Latest Club News 18th December 2020
Well, the centre has been in FULL Christmas cheer this week as our activities celebrated the end of year; Santa was seen here and there and everywhere (or was that Wonder Woman in disguise), handing out some Xmas treats to one and all at every activity, which was so very well received. It all added to the positive vibe of sharing and caring and really valuing each and every one of us equally.
I don’t know about you, but we are certainly happy to put 2020 behind us for many reasons and welcome in 2021 to bring us much more joy, happiness, togetherness, good health, and an open heartedness.
We wish to take this opportunity to thank all of you who have stood by us as we helped return the centre into the beautiful place people travel far and wide to attend these past couple of months and we certainly look forward to welcoming you back with new vigour in 2021.
A reminder that the centre will be closed from 21st December and resume in the week of Monday 4th January 2021.
Some activities resume a little later plus we have some additions to the timetable for 2021 so please see our updated timetable and keep checking the website for any other changes.
There are still a few expressions of interest for more activities such as Chess, Writers & Poets, Laughter & Meditation for Wellbeing, Evolution of Dance (includes history of ballet) as well as Singing for FUN. Put your name down on one of the lists if you wish to see that activity running as we will need some minimum numbers to allocate the room.
Live Music to accompany Dancers twice a month Thursdays & Saturdays
Talented musical duo Patti & Tony Gilbert are providing live music sessions for our New Vogue Sequence Dancing twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Thursday and 2nd & 4th Saturday, alternating weeks with Brian & Mary (Thursdays) & Colin & Elizabeth (Saturdays). If last Thursday morning’s session was an indicator, these sessions will be very popular. Check out the Christmas Special Edition photos to see how happy everyone was.
Tony Gilbert Sound (Patti & Tony’s duo) play Saturday 19th December 6.30pm for an extra special Festive Gala Dance Night with After 5 Cocktail Dress code.

Grant for Defibrillator
If you hadn’t noticed, our defibrillator had gone missing!! But HUGE thanks to Tweed Heads Community Men’s Shed, we now have $500 donated towards purchasing a new one. Thank you so much to these wonderful men doing such a great service in the community and also helping other community groups like us. We still need to fundraise about $2500 more to purchase a new defibrillator so come and see us in the New Year if you have a brainwave because we know this device plays a crucial role in saving lives should someone need it!

Call for Volunteers in Reception
We have such an amazing bunch of greeters and welcomers to our Covid-safe registrations front desk and we love them all, but we need a couple of people who can volunteer 15hrs/week in our reception as we have only a couple of these extra special gems. We are also looking for some strong hands with Bingo table set-ups early Mondays. Please contact us if you know someone suitable.
We want to wish all our members a very Happy & Safe Christmas with your loved ones and welcome you back with bells on in the New Year.
